NOVEMBER 21, 2022 ROOSEVELT ISLAND, NEW YORK - In an effort to raise awareness of the New York City’s Zero Waste goals and the important programing that both the Manhattan Solid Waste Advisory Board (Manhattan SWAB) and iDig2Learn engage in, the organizations will be holding a joint end-of-year fundraiser at the historic Good Shepherd Chapel located at 543 Main Street.
The keynote speaker for the evening will be the Chair of the New York City Council’s Committee on Sanitation and Solid Waste Management and District 37 City Council Member, Sandy Nurse.
“Chair Nurse is uniquely positioned to communicate both the importance of why sanitation and solid waste management issues are crucial to the 8.6 million New York City residents as we all try to achieve our City’s Zero Waste goals. We are looking forward to hearing from her on a variety of topics related to solid waste management like curbside organic collection, zero waste, and some of the exciting legislation before the City Council that relate to those topics,” said the Chair of the Manhattan Solid Waste Advisory Board, Matthew Civello.
Founder of iDig2Learn, Christina Delfico, added “As we celebrate our first decade, iDig2Learn is honored to team up with Manhattan SWAB, which has served as both a resource on waste reduction efforts and a strong network of industry professionals offering their expertise to guide our programming. Manhattan SWAB’s monthly open public meetings are a great way to stay up on the latest cutting edge efforts to reduce waste across a variety of industries. The future of iDig2Learn’s work to celebrate nature and become better stewards of the land, air and water must incorporate waste reduction and equitable practices”
